Dance Open America International Dance Competition

CEC advanced ballet students, Mia Toribio and Catalina Vigil, competed in the Dance Open America International Dance Competition. They were both selected to participate in the Grand Prix Finals, which took place in May. The competition featured an impressive panel of judges, and we are very proud of Mia and Catalina’s final results. Catalina Vigil Gold for Teen Classical 3rd Place and Gold for Teen Contemporary Selected as an Ambassador. In the Grand Prix Finals- 4th place, securing a place in the Top 20. Congratulations to the dancers who competed in the Onstage NY Competition on March 19-20. Each dancer gave their heart and soul to their pieces and we could not be prouder. Yan Carlos Artime

Yan Carlos Artime, pianist, publishes BALLET 15 pieces for piano: 15 pieces of piano accompaniment for classical ballet classes.  Mr. Artime has been CEC’s ballet piano accompanist since 2018. He recently published 15 pieces for piano  a book of original piano compositions made to accompany a ballet class. Mr. Artime has decades of experience as a classical and jazz pianist, and has performed in numerous international venues and music festivals. Ronn Daniels Lifetime Achievement Award

Our warmest congratulations to Mr. Ronn Daniels, Conservatory Artistic Director and faculty member for over 40 years. This week, Dance Educators of America honored Mr. Daniels with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to dance and dance education.  Over the span of his career, Mr. Daniels has been a performer, teacher, choreographer, as well as an author, director, creator of a system for teaching, and entrepreneur. Spanish Dance choreography course

We are excited to announce that this week we began a Spanish Dance choreography course in collaboration with Eduardo Martinez, principal dancer with the Ballet Nacional de España (BNE). Eduardo has taught several master classes at the Conservatory in the past and most recently worked with our dancers who participated in the 2019 trip to Spain. Our High School and Advanced Spanish dancers will be learning his choreography Paseos de Ayer, with music by Joaquín Turina.  Marisol Moreno, Spanish Dance Department Head, will be teaching the course in-person and students will have access to live sessions and videos with Eduardo teaching the choreography and explaining the…

For 87 years, Conchita Espinosa Conservatory of the Arts (CEC) has maintained their commitment to the development of young artists. CEC offers students exceptional technical and artistic training within a nurturing environment that allows them to develop into human beings with a deep understanding, appreciation, and respect for the Arts. Enrollment is open to the community and not limited to students from the Academy. Classes are also available for professionals and adults.
