Ruben “Tutty” Jimenez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1948. He is the son of the legendary Cuban musician, Generoso Jimenez. Tutty studied music at the renowned Escuela Sergio Restano in Havana, under the tutelage of percussion master Fausto Garcia and music theory and solfeggio with his father, Generoso Jimenez. In Cuba during the 1970s, Tutty performed with the Orquestas Beny More and Instituto Cubano de Radio y Television (I.C.R.T.). In the 1980s, he performed extensively in Venezuela with Television Orquesta, Sinfonica de Venezuela, and Orquesta Radio Caracas. In Miami, Tutty has performed with a wide spectrum of orchestras and performers, including the Florida Chamber Orchestra, the Miami Symphony Orchestra and the Danzon by Six, and with such extraordinary talents as Gabriela Spanic, Paquito D’Rivera, Juan Pablo Torres, Camilo Sesto and Tropicana All-Stars.
